Merrrrrry December! Jason Katzenstein here and I hope you’re all keeping warm out there.
Cartoons make great gifts. But you knew that — you’re a ToonStack subscriber. You’re reading this going, yeah yeah yeah Jason I know the drill, just lemme get to the part where you stop typing at me and I start perusing the wonderful assortment of gift opportunities I’ve got this year to wow everyone in my life.
To which I’m like, please by all means but also you don’t even want to say you also hope I’m keeping warm? Look. I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to start something here in the intro, I’ve just been a little bit cold this morning. What’s that? THANK YOU for asking, I do have a cozy sweater on now. I’m so sorry we ever got in this silly argument.
Let’s all delight in these gifts together.

Looking for a book to buy the people in your life who like (and/or hate) robots, family, history, archives, philosophy, AI, love, and cats? OR looking for a good doorstop? Artificial: A Love Story is a whopping 2.7 lbs! Buy one for everyone you know! Now available in German!
Want a faster read with similar themes, minus the robots? Flying Couch: A Graphic Memoir is another family tale you might enjoy sharing with your relatives. Alas, this book does not double as a doorstop.

I illustrated a book with Simpsons writer and Producer Mike Reiss, which makes a great holiday gift for the kids in your life!
Sandy was having the time of his life in Bali. He was living the carefree island life, surfing, and hanging out on the beach with his friends. He was so content that he had almost forgotten about Christmas. That is, until he got a call from someone he hadn’t heard from in years…his big brother Santa Claus!
This hilarious holiday book tells the story of what happens when Santa’s sleigh gets stuck in the wet sands of Bali, and he has to call on his estranged, lazy, fun-loving little brother Sandy to save Christmas. With witty writing by Emmy® award-winning humour writer and longtime executive producer of ‘The Simpsons’, Mike Reiss, and delightful illustrations by New Yorker cartoonist Jason Chatfield, ‘Santa’s Brother Sandy Saves Christmas’ is sure to be a hit with everyone on your list!

I have two things on offer! One: I will be drawing custom cartoons (drawn live, on the spot!) at the FAD Market at the Invisible Dog Center in Brooklyn on December 15th. Come by my booth (and bring some photos of the subject, be it dog, human, or other), and leave with a 6X9 personalized drawing. Here’s a recent example:
Two: my book, Radical, is a graphic memoir chronicling my year spent embedded with a progressive freshman politician and her team. It was the middle of the first Trump presidency, and while national politics felt abstract and obliterating, I found it enormously inspiring to dive into the world of state-level organizing and policy-making, the effects of which directly and immediately impacted my life.
