Cartoons About Animals In Bed

Artist often have favorite subjects: Cézanne had his apples, Degas his dancers, Georgia O’Keefe her…er…flowers. Freed from the need to find new subjects, these familiar images allow artists to experiment and explore. There is meaning, dear reader, in repetition.

For me, it’s animals in bed. Through the wide eyes of some beloved creature, I get to explore that most fundamental element of human relations: sex. The Roman playwright, Terrence, once said, “I am a man, I consider nothing that is human alien to me.” To that, dear reader, I add: “In bed…with a whale.”

These familiar subjects also give us a glimpse into the inner-workings of these creative minds.
