ANOTHER Rogue ToonStack email?? … what is this?…. THE INTERNET?
Yes, this is the internet, a place exclusively for: emails, cat videos, political screeds, cartoons, and TED Talks. Hello. My name is Amy Kurzweil, and this is my TED Talk. But like, actually, this is my TED Talk. Have you ever noticed that it’s impossible to share your TED talk with people without them thinking you’re doing a bit? That’s a thing I’ve been noticing lately. And by lately I mean in the last five minutes, because my actual TED Talk came out five minutes ago. (Stop saying TED Talk, Amy.)
Tone shift: I did, in fact, give a talk in April, on the Vancouver mainstage, to 2500 people, about AI and cartooning and my very personal, recent book, Artificial: A Love Story, and I didn’t pass-out! And now I’m here to share it with you and the internet for all eternity:
To commemorate this achievement, my New Yorker cartoonist fam is "live drawing" the talk today and all week. I'll be reposting their work on social media.
If you're an artist and want to participate, simply:
1. Watch the talk
2. In one image: Draw and timestamp your favorite moment and/or draw your thoughts/feelings/some-creative-image in response to a moment or message of the talk.
3. Share your work online and tag me (@amykurzweil) + talk link + #AmyKurzweilTedTalk
Of course, you’re welcome to share the talk in any way that suits you: Scream the lines at sleeping strangers on the subway, print out screenshots of your favorite moments and tape them to your grandmother’s fridge, or you know, just share a link on social media.
