Hello! It’s me, , your editor for this week’s edition of
The New Yorker Festival was last weekend, and a bunch of us Toonstackers were involved in a 2-day live drawing improv event. It was fun! Then there was Halloween - another festival! Man, these Americans love their festivals. Then there was the Day of the Dead! Oh boy, was that a big scary festival. So many skellingtons. Then there was the Festival of Presidency! (This one has been going on for a LONG time.) I’m actually waiting for the Civil War Festival to Kick off before the Festive Season officially begins.
Anyway.
Yours in Festivity.

Would your mom buy a 3-day pass to this, or is she more of a single-day ticket kind of girlie?

“Festivities” always makes me think of extended family. To be honest, I’m not really in the habit of celebrating - holidays, birthdays, personal victories - probably because I fear that indulging in any expression of joy will summon the Angel of Death, but for happiness. This obviously makes me very fun to be around at ~festivities~.
They who make the convenience fees have the power.
The festive day of the dead has come and gone, but the Kamala campaign has sent me many, many emails warning of these unnatural undead creatures lurking on city streets—hide your children! The undecided stalk the night! The only defence is to double your campaign pledge right now!!
But wait, there’s more!
