…if it began in media res would that be a fun way to— oh, hi! I’ve been Jason Katzenstein… I love when people say “I’ve been” at the end of something. But this dispatch from the land of disorientation has no end, it’s more like a Mobius strip or a conversation with a libertarian. What I’m trying to say is, I have been traveling for so many weddings this summer. I’ve had that sensation of forgetting where I am in the world. This week’s stack takes us through another dimension, not only of sight and sound but of references to the Twilight Zone intro. Where was I? Exactly.
This week, while visiting Ireland, I went through my first hedge maze. Although it was clearly intended for children, I still managed to get lost. Thankfully, there was no Minotaur inside of it. Unfortunately, there was something even scarier lurking inside of it: my five-year-old daughter who shamed me until we found our way out.
Due to my boyfriend's black out curtains, I never know what month it is, what day it is, what time it is.
Sometimes a cartoon is a very gentle cry for help.
With apologies to all my brilliant friends in grad school. You guy are the exception, obviously.
My travel tip: you'll never ever get lost if you're always disoriented.
BUT WAIT! WHERE ARE YOU GOING? WHERE AM I GOING? WHOMST AM I SPEAKING TOWARD? AH, WELL, HERE’S SOME COOL STUFF:
